David Koresh was the American leader of the Davidians a religious sect, believing he to be its final prophet to some, to others another preacher. And the group lived at Mount Carmel Centre ranch in the community of Elk, Texas, 14 kilometer east of Waco.

The group spoke against laws that infringed on free will to all Man, and man was free to drink eat his own fruit at will without having to pay for the privilege or permission to do so. And some that disapproved of the group reported them of making alcohol on campus and growing cannabis, Also it was informed the group were heavily armed!.

Remembering it was legal to own a gun in Texas which was gun country. and the group were about God and not aggression the information about guns were I believe just careful information to have if an invasion took place to execute a search warrant in the dark of night!.

Either way the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) arrived in full force and were refused entry to their ranch; the group insisted it had no rights to enter the land and that no laws were broken. and a stand off began.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms said they would arrest everyone and people may die if the group of men women and 20 children didn’t surrender to the statute.

David was on the radio to media giving updates as to how they were being treated and he wasn’t going to be bullied. At one stage the group were going to walk out peacefully but later decided no to as their was no give on the other side..

An attack was launched and men on both sides were shot. In the finish tanks were fired at the building and they demolished walls and fires broke out, 80+people were taped inside twenty of which were children and attempts to rescue them failed. The wooden buildings went up in a puff of smoke before fire services could arrive.

A particular controversy ensued over the origin of the fires!. A government investigation concluded in 2000 that sect members themselves had started the fires.

Locals and breakaway members said the group were not in any way a violent group and rebut the claims the fires were started by members and further claim a cover up by the . Some family members took court action against the FBI but failed.Image
